Ex-Social Distortion Drummer OD'd in Front of Son
Lesson of the day: don't do drugs and then overdose in front of your kid because you just might end up in jail.
That's what happened anyway to Casey Royer.
The former drummer for SoCal punk band Social Distortion was charged today with one count of child endangerment and one count of being under the influence of heroin after OD'ing on the drug in front of his 12-year-old son while the two watched TV at home last week.
The medical emergency prompted the younger Royer to get help from neighbors who called an ambulance as well as police. Lucky for him, the 52-year-old rocker was taken to a nearby hospital in time and doctors managed to revive him.
Unfortunately, however, Royer was arrested a short time later and now faces some serious charges which could see his son taken away from his care.
An Orange County, Calif., Sheriff's spokesman confirmed to E! News hat when officers arrived, they found drug paraphernalia, including needles.
Royer launched his career in 1979 at age 21, keeping the beat for Social Distortion, the headbanging O.C. punk outfit fronted by Mike Ness. He left the group a year later and played with the Adolescents as well as fronting his own band, D.I.
Royer remains behind bars in lieu of $120,000 bail.
